I wasn’t sure whether or not to do this post because cosmetics is really not my forte but I’ve been asked so many times what I use and recommendations for different things so here they are and why…
1- The first one is this ‘Younique’ mascara, when I was emailed about this with the option of trying it out, I was quite reluctant as I’m no make-up expert and I thought, why me? Would this not be better suited to make-up artist bloggers or fashionistas? After a little persuasion and completely no obligation if I didn’t like it, I agreed to try it out. When it arrived, I was a little shocked as I’ve never known mascara to come in such luxury packaging. Inside, there were what looked like two mascaras which initially looked far too complicated for me!
Anyway to cut a long story short how wrong could I have been, this mascara is absolutely fantastic.
From the picture above you can see there is one that looks like a normal mascara and one that has a much thinner end (which is full of fibres). So you use the bigger mascara first which is like a gel and then the fibre mascara which attaches little fibres to your eye lashes making them look thicker and longer. To finish you use the big mascara again to seal the fibres with the gel and voilà you have long luscious eye lashes. This being an honest review the only slight negative I’ve found is on occasion some of the fibres fall under my eyes but nothing that a blusher brush can’t sweep away. I absolutely love it and will be definitely purchasing it when I run out of it. Here’s a link if you want to check it out for yourself… Moodstruck 3D Fibre lashes.
I’m really not a fan of doing selfies this close up but here’s a typical before and after shot of using the mascara. Sorry about the quality of them too, selfies are never the best resolution are they!
2- John Freida Volume hairspray– I started using this 11 years ago and have never gone back. If I could I’d be a rep for them because I’ve got so many women (and men!) hooked on this product. I’m going to do a post soon on how I do my wavy hair and this hairspray has a lot to do with it!
3- Aveeno hand moisturiser– This is a recent fave because as you know being a mum you’re constantly washing your hands and dealing with day to day baby mess. This keeps your hands moisturised even after washing and it dries really quickly after putting it on, so no slimy hands!
4- Naked 2 Urban Decay- Self explanatory but all my fave colours, I’m a sucker for creams and browns. Next time I think I’ll go for the smaller version of it though called Naked 2 Basics.
5- Naked Flushed- It’s got your bronzer, blusher and highlighter all in one. It’s been perfect to give me a little splash of colour especially on those cold winters days when I’ve felt pale, pasty and over tired.
6- Nivea Primer- It’s only £4.99, lasts ages and feels amazing on your skin because it’s also a light moisturiser too.
7- Estee Lauder Powder- Great coverage without using foundation and also stays on your skin, I know that sounds strange to say but I know so many women who say their make-up slides off their face by the end of the day.
8- Benefit hydrating concealer- Through recommendation I bought this about two weeks ago. I found that my old one made my eyes look quite dry underneath and made my wrinkles stand out more but this has a layer around the concealer part that hydrates your skin – amazing and so glad I finally found ‘the one’ haha!
9- Olay regenerist moisturiser- you might as well call it anti-wrinkle cream. You know you should apparently start using this before the wrinkles appear or do you think that’s just a marketing scam? Either way it makes me feel like I’m doing something about what is currently starting to happen more and more by the day!
10- Johnsons make-up wipes- They don’t scratch your skin, they take off all your make-up and leave your skin feeling moisturised. I always use the sensitive ones for me which I’ve found to be the softest :).
11-‘Please Me’ Mac Lipstick- This is my staple go-to lipstick that I’ve worn for years now. It’s a soft natural pinky colour and great for layering with lighter or darker colours for different lip tones too.
The links that I’ve put on here may not be the most cost-effective but at least you know what to look for if you do want to try anything out. I’ll be back to the fashion front on my next post! Thanks for reading and I’d also love to hear what recommendations you have for me too!
