If you’ve been following our renovation project of giving our roof terrace a make-over, you’ll have seen that it’s finally finished! Well kind of. We still need to get a few more bits like an outdoor light, a coffee table and perhaps a little bistro set and somewhere for the kids to sit / eat / play.
These pictures don’t show it but we now have lovely festoon lights draping across to really ignite the ambiance when the sun sets too. I’ll be doing a video soon to capture it in all its glory for you and to show it transitioning from a playful day space to a relaxing evening space.
I’m so excited already to have many a night cosying up to Ayman whilst we just sit, chill and chat with a glass of vino and of course choccie 🙂 It feels like it’s been ages since we’ve done that so I’m hoping it’ll give us that special ‘us’ time on a more frequent basis. Also it’s such a nice little space where the kids and I can enjoy playing in the day too.
The beginning stages
We started our little project back in early July. I haven’t wanted to rush it because I wanted to be really sure about the look I wanted to create and the items I wanted to buy.
Here is what it looked like before we started any work…
How I got my ideas down
First of all I created a few mood boards. without really knowing what a mood board was… I just literally screenshotted things I like from the web and inserted them into a Powerpoint slide. It ends up looking more like a collage but it gives me an idea of the overall look of what I want to try and create. It’s especially great to see how all the colours end up working together and what the most essential items to purchase first are.
Here was my finished mood board…
For this project I was super lucky to collaborate with one of my all time favourite interior stores Maisons Du Monde!!! If you’ve never heard of them then you’re welcome because you have now and it’s only a good thing 🙂 .
As part of this collaboration they gave me the option of choosing one large item and then a few other smaller items to help dress the space. Honestly it’s been one of my most exciting collaborations so far in my blogging journey as I’ve been a fangirl of their brand for SOOOOOO long and I’ve long had the urge of doing more interior blogging so it’s given me the push I needed and I’m now officially hooked.
So, from a blank canvas to this little outdoor haven of ours I’m really pleased with the look I’ve created, which has ended up being a beautiful mash up of Santorini-esque vibes, Scandi design and that kind of paradise island feel with the mandala rug and bamboo pieces.

I’m super proud to say that this post was in collaboration with Maisons Du Monde who gifted me the items stated above. As ever, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only blog about brands, products and services that I truly connect with, would genuinely use, and would legitimately recommend to others.
Oh darling! You’ve done such a brilliant job with this space! Well done!! Now you can relax and watch all the lovely autum sunsets with a glass of vino..perfect!! The sofa is STUNNING and those pink chairs……love love love! My fave bit though.,,,Hugo’s watering can…that’s just the best! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Everyone is going to love it tomorrow xxx
Oh Sally it’s absolutely gorgeous- you guys have done an amazing job! Love that you painted the floor grey and the styling is just lush. Beautiful photos – Remy’s legs!! And I loved seeing you all enjoying the space on your stories the other day after Laura’s wedding – the overhead lighting looked so pretty at night xxx
Looks amazing! Very jealous – are the rugs and soft furnishings weather proof? I really want to get a rug for my decking area but would they stand the test of time with the British weather?
Wow you did such a gorgeous job! I love it! I’m obsessed with those pink chairs and that sofa looks so comfy. Gotta love Maisons du Monde!
I’m sure you are thrilled to be done so you can enjoy the lovely Autumn weather up there.
