Christmas… ’tis the season where it seems everyone jumps on the jolly bandwagon and there’s no stopping the sparkle infusion surrounding us whether it’s our clothing, house decorations or even food and drinks. We just can’t get enough! It really is such a magical time of year!

Though this year, I’ll be attending all those festive celebrations with a little baby in my tummy so I’ll need a few staple dresses that help dress my bump in style and are comfy and warm to wear. I don’t know if it’s just me but the older I get the more adamant I become at wanting to be warm and comfy. Gone are the days where I’d brave bare legs, stiletto heels and a little strappy dress without a coat envying every other sensible girl who at least brought another layer to wear over their dress. And further envy of those girls who – by the end of the night – can still walk like they owned the catwalk instead of the likes of me tottering around like Bambi on ice trying to avoid any unceremonious cobbles or steps. Who’s with me?!

If you are still with me, then keep reading because this post is for you!

I’ve teamed up with the lovely brand White Stuff to celebrate their Christmas Party Wear collection. Although they don’t do maternity clothes they have a fair few choices that I thought would be perfect for me and my growing bump and what better piece to choose than this gorgeous velvet black dress which is a little irresistible to touch just to warn you. This is obviously still perfect for ladies who aren’t pregnant too, it’s actually made more for you but hey, I’m going to own it too hehe. And ‘hello’, velvet is THE fabric of the season for autumn-winter 2016 so you can’t go wrong.

I particularly love the lace detailing on the sleeves of this dress as it adds that touch of delicate elegance and the tie around the middle is great to accentuate your waist and, in my case, to frame the bump perfectly.

I layered it with this military style coat which just about buttons up but not for long I don’t think as breathing in doesn’t really work now haha. It has a lovely soft brushed cotton kind of feel to it and my fave detail is the statement funnel neck when it’s all buttoned up.

To complete this look and to add that touch of Christmas sparkle in a perhaps more subtle way, I opted for sparkly black tights and this metallic leather bag that has just enough room for all your essentials. As I obviously won’t be drinking this Christmas, comfort will be the most important thing to consider especially when it comes to footwear as there won’t be any alcohol-induced haziness to disguise discomfort. These shoe boots however are perfect for comfort and style so you can keep dancing the night away regardless of whether you’re just ‘out’ like me – or ‘out out‘!

So there’s the outfit I chose; they have plenty of other fabulous party pieces to have a gander at if you fancy jazzing it up with a bit more colour or sparkle though. You can take a look here.

Much love
